
Free Madison!
As we settle into the dog days of summer, there is still lots of time to get out and about in Madison.
One of the best things about this city is all the free events and destinations just waiting for you to explore.
Whether you have a free day or just a few hours, here are some summer options for you, while we still have some summer days left!
Olbrich Botantical Gardens – Explore the different gardens and secret spaces this Madison gem has to offer. Open daily from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. This is a great destination any time of year.
Henry Vilas Zoo – A 28 acre public zoo that is home to more than 650 animals. Open year round from 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
MadCity Ski Show – An amateur show that boasts National championship teams, the show is Sunday evenings at Law Park next to the Monona Terrace.
Farmer’s Markets – The downtown Farmer’s Market is the best know in the area, open Saturday mornings. But there are other smaller markets scattered around the city.
Madison Museum of Contemporary Art – A modern and contemporary art museum that offers education, film screenings and special events,
State Capitol tours – The stunning Capitol building at the center of the city offers free tours daily.
Memorial Union Terrace – Sit by the lake and enjoy the water views from the Memorial Union. Don’t forget to grab some Babcock ice cream while you are there, made right on Campus at Babcock Hall.
